Programme Overview
The Master of Engineering Science programme at University of Malaya is a research and dissertation programme, where students will be allowed to choose the field of research and study.
Be it the responsible use of science in Environmental Engineering to the avant-garde approach to Biomedical Engineering, the possibilities are just beginning. Specialisation may dictate the career path the Master of Engineering Science programme candidates start, however, the degree itself does not impose limits to where the candidates may build their careers or names.
Candidates can source out research projects under the following programmes available at the Faculty:

Environment Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Telecommunications Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Design & Manufacturing Engineering
Manufacturing Engineering
Entry Requirements
Has obtained the degree of Bachelor of Engineering of the University of Malaya or shall, with the approval of Senate on the recommendation of the faculty, possess an equivalent qualification approved by the Senate as being comparable academic status and shall submit evidence of adequate training and ability to undertake the purposed course; and
Shall pass a Preliminary Examination prescribed by the Faculty of Engineering in the branch of engineering, which will be set before or after the candidate’s admission to the course of study. The Senate may, on the recommendation of the Faculty, exempt the candidate from this Preliminary Examination.
Language Requirement
Foreign candidates are required to:
Have at least IELTS Band 6 or TOEFL 550 if their first degree is from a university where English is not the medium of instruction.
Or
Pass an English proficiency test approved by the University.
Programme Structure
This Master's programme is purely based on individual supervised research. At the end of the candidate's study, a dissertation must be submitted and upon successful defense of the dissertation, the candidate will be awarded a Master degree. All research proposals must be approved and supervised by the Faculty.
Candidates are required to complete their studies within 10 semesters.
